The Ford F150, the best-selling American-made pickup truck in recent decades, needs no introduction. It boasts many options and models that its rivals cannot match and the 2012 and 2013 model years continue this dominance with four engines to choose from, three body styles, and nine different trim levels. The base engine in the 2012 and 2013 Ford F150 is a 3.7 liter V6 that pumps out an impressive 302 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque while still only sipping fuel with an estimated 23 miles per gallon on the highway.
Even with impressive factory horsepower numbers from the base engine option, 2012 and 2013 Ford F150 3.7 liter owners can gain a simple increase in horsepower and engine performance with the K&N 77-2585KS performance air intake system. The 77-2585KS is precision-engineered with a mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube to streamline airflow and heat shield to help protect incoming air from heat under the hood. The RC-5173 conical air filter on the end of the intake tube is oversized to help reduce restriction while maintaining excellent air filtration. It is also washable and reusable, and can go for up to 100,000 miles between cleanings depending on driving conditions.
On the dyno, the 77-2585KS performance air intake system produced an estimated additional 11.9 horsepower at 5536rpm, and 10.3 pound-feet of torque at 3333rpm over the stock intake system.
The 77-2585KS is backed by K&N’s famous Million Mile Limited Warranty. It’s easy to install, maintains all necessary factory connections, and does not require any additional modifications to the vehicle.
Performance air intake 77-2585KS is engineered to fit the models listed below:
2013 Ford F150 3.7L V6
2012 Ford F150 3.7L V6

The Ford SVT Raptor has proved to be one of the top selling and most popular trucks in the last couple of years. Ford has made a decision to begin building the Raptor in its Dearborn truck plant to keep up with demand. The makers at Ford have set a goal to boost production to 5 trucks an hour within the next few weeks.
The Raptor began as an experiment and proved to be extremely successful. The Raptor starts at around $44,000 and can go up to $60,000 based on options.
It features a 6.2 Liter V-8 and offers 411 horsepower. Dealerships cannot keep these vehicles on the lot which is why Ford is beefing up production.

MSN Money recently reported on a 102-year old man who purchased his 16th Ford truck. To read the full story, click here. Floyd Pullin of Pennsylvania recently purchased a 2013 Ford F-150, making this his 16th Ford truck in the 86 years he’s been driving. This was such a big event that a PA senator came out to celebrate the purchase. Not many people can say that a senator joined them for a vehicle purchase!
This is brand loyalty like we’ve never seen before. Good for Floyd who’s been responsible enough with his cash to afford a new truck. It’s also pretty amazing that he can drive at this age. All around, this is a remarkable feat. If Floyd was my grandpa (or great grandpa), I’d be stoked to have a relative this old and this cool.
Are you a Ford truck owner and a bacon enthusiast? If so, you can now combine both your passions. In celebration of International Bacon Day (whatever that is) on August 31, Ford dealers are offering vehicle wraps that look like strips of bacon. Pricing is expected to start around $78 and increases depending on the number of bacon slices featured in the wrap. It appears that it’s only for F150 owners, so sorry F250 and F350 owners. Maybe next year.
To get your F150 “bacon wrapped” go to http://www.fordcustomgraphics.com and choose your design. Even though Ford currently only has choices for the Fiesta, we expect designs for the F150 and others to be out shortly. We love bacon and we love lifted trucks. Together, we’re not sure what to think. Let’s see what happens…
TruckU recently built a big Ford Superduty, incorporating RBP wheels, exhaust, steps and grill into the project. The video features good information on how easy it is to install these products and will give you a sense on how they might look on your lifted F250. Sorry that some of the commentary is cheezy and the fist bump is unnecessary. Hope this is helpful. To view the video: visit http://truckutv.com/?p=5238
According to multiple sources, including CNN, Ford will begin offering F-150s that run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the 2014 model year trucks. This option was previous available for larger Ford F-series trucks, mainly used in commercial fleets where gas was a huge cost to the company. It appears that this move by Ford is being driven by customers, who have been asking for CNG powered F-150 trucks.
This is a pretty interesting move by Ford. Although the CNG F-150 will save approximately $1.50 a gallon for its owners, the CNG upgrade will cost almost $10,000. Therefore, a truck owner would need to be using around 100 gallons of gas a month to pay off this upgrade in five years. That being said, if you are a landscaping company or construction company, you are probably using way more than 100 gallons of gas a month. This new option could set Ford apart from Chevy when it comes to small businesses and corporations buying full-sized trucks. Either way, it’s great for any truck owner who wants to save money on gas and take care of the environment.
Would you spend $10,000 on your lifted truck to save money on gas and preserve the environment?

A recent report from the Detroit News highlighted the fact that the Ford F-250 is the most stolen/jacked/thieved truck in America. The F-250 beat out the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, and Chevy Surburban, among others, for this title. Seven out of every 1,000 vehicles sold is an F-250. So why do we care?
Well, obviously this is something to consider if you are thinking about purchasing a truck. For whatever reason, the F-250 is stolen almost twice as much as the GMC 1500. The main reason we are highlighting this story has to do with the debate over which is better: Ford or Chevy. At first glance, you would think this article proves that theives want Ford trucks more than Chevy. But, when you look at the top 10 list, 8 of the top 10 vehicles are Chevy/GM products.
This could mean a couple things. It could mean that Chevy/GM trucks have higher resale values or greater demand in the resale market, making them targets for theives. But, it could also mean that Chevy/GM trucks are easier to steal compared to Ford trucks, making them easier targets. So even though this article doesn’t solve the debate, it’s easy to see that car theives want Chevy trucks, and probably because they hold their value and are easier to sell. When it comes to the category “demanded by theives” – Chevy is the winner.
Have you noticed that as China has grown in size and wealth, trucks seem to becoming more and more popular in this country of 1 billion+ people? This video highlights the Nitto truck booth at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. As you would expect, it features underdressed girls and lowered cars, but surprisingly, there’s a pretty sick Ford Raptor on display. We would never think of a Ford Raptor being the vehicle of choice in China, but as the country has grown more wealthy, it appears that the truck market is poised for growth. Whatever happens, it’s great to see Nitto representing trucks in emergin markets and we hope they keep it up.
Do you think China will ever be a major market for lifted trucks?
