Toyota Truck Recall – Spare Tire

That’s right, Toyota has issued a voluntary recall for 2001-2004 Tacoma trucks. Apparently the lift plates that hold the spare tire can become corroded and cause the spare tire to detach from the truck. It appears that this is more relevent to Tacomas driving in cold weather where salt is used to prevent ice on the road.

Obviously this is less applicable to Tacoma owners in SoCal, but it’s probably worth having Toyota take a look and replace the plates if needed. This doesn’t seem like a big deal…not like when gas pedals were getting stuck on Prius’ a few years ago.
