Custom trucks & lifted vehicles headed South to the Texas cities hit the hardest by the flood waters which were residuals of hurricane Harvey. In a video posted via YouTube, you can watch a lifted SUV pulling out a National Guard vehicle.
Modern everyday people helping out our “american hero’s” in times of need? WE LOVE IT!!!
In our unbiased opinion the world needs to see more people lending a hand and helping out. It’s a HEART problem we are facing in today’s society.

What Were They Thinking?
What were the judges at the North American International Auto Show thinking when they awarded Truck of the Year honors to the Range Rover Evoque? We heard rumors that the judges were seen smoking weed before making the decision, but those have not been confirmed. Apparantly the Evoque has 4WD and can tow, therefore it’s a truck. Does that mean a Suburu is a truck too?
The decision was made by a bunch of writers and apparantly they loved the power and handling of the Range Rover. We’re still not buyers that it’s truck of the year, but if someone lifted it and put 35’s on it, we may re-consider. For now, we are going to point and laugh…
Lifted SUV to Celebrate Thanksgiving
So many things to be thankful for this year. We thought that in honor of this great day full of over-eating and excessive football watching, we’d show you a Thanksgiving lifted SUV. Why did we choose this one? Not only is it lifted and Thanksgiving colored, but it also has 9 doors! Most of us are thankful for 3-doors or 4-doors, but how many can be thankful for 9 doors? There’s nothing more excessive than going back for thirds on pumpkin pie and having a big SUV with 9 doors. Enjoy.
Advantages of HID Headlights on Lifted Trucks
Unlike typical passenger cars that tend to be on the more fuel efficient side, trucks and SUVs have no such luxury. Ineffective lighting system equipment can be detrimental to a vehicle’s overall fuel economy and drivers of lifted trucks and SUV’s can’t afford to waste any energy. Using HID headlights can make your lifted truck lighting system operate more efficiently and can take advantage of the numerous additional benefits provided by HID lights.
HIDs not only last up to 10x as long as standard halogen headlights due to their increased efficiency, they can also shine up to 3x as brightly. That’s like paying for a hamburger and getting served a New York steak! Pair these gains with benefits such as improved peripheral vision at night, enhanced reflection off important road notices, and more natural light production, and you’ll see how HID headlights were designed to outperform halogens.
On a lifted truck or SUV, you’ll need to be extra careful when adapting your vehicle’s HIDs for use on the road. HID headlights must aim a fair amount lower than typical headlights, as when aimed at the usual target they can be blinding to oncoming traffic. As lifted trucks and SUVs sit higher off the road than your standard passenger car, the aiming adjustment must be made even more carefully. Though this isn’t a difficult feat to accomplish, it’s something that must be accounted for in order to maintain safe driving experiences for everyone.
Plus, there’s something about installing HIDs on a big truck or SUV that gels well with the larger builds and versatile designs of these vehicles. Since HID headlights can be customized by color, you can match up a pair of fierce blue or purple headlights with your bright green or yellow H2 for a wild and bold color scheme. You can also use vivid white HIDs on a huge white F250 for some impressive color matching. Considering that trucks and SUVs often have less visual variance when compared to the number of different passenger car designs out there, HID headlights can help you set your big truck or SUV apart from the pack.
Raider Nation at SEMA Sponsored by K&N
The 2011 SEMA show was Pete Gutierrez’s second time showing a custom vehicle, although he has been into customizing for over 20 years. “Every vehicle I’ve ever owned I’ve customized it, but this truck by far is the wildest.”
Gutierrez’s day job is running a manufacturing company, but it’s his passion for customizing that’s on full display at SEMA. His 2005 Ford Excursion 4×4, pearl white paint and black skull detail, is Gutierrez’s sixth project vehicle and it leaves little doubt which NFL team he sides with. “I’m an avid Oakland Raider football fan and my kids always wanted a lifted truck, so I put the two together. It is a Raider theme throughout, featuring custom graphics painted in and outside the truck and a fully custom stereo.”
When he isn’t showing his truck, he attends countless charitable events, as well as attending all the Raider home games. “When they play away, I do sport bars, and show my vehicle for different Booster Clubs up and down the coast,” adds Gutierrez. Gutierrez shows his truck and other vehicles with Show Car Inc. This is an automotive marketing company that specializes in placing vehicles for promotional uses such as, music videos, promotional events, and for some of the world’s largest automotive conventions.
Gutierrez vehicles have collectively won over 200 first place trophies, in September of 2008 he was featured in Truckin Magazine. He has also been in a number of music videos. “We just did a music video with Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa,” says Gutierrez. The two outstanding features on his Excursion that make Gutierrez particularly proud are suspension and the one of a kind paint job. “The suspension is completely fabricated, no bolt-on crap,” says Gutierrez.
It’s that attention to detail that brought Gutierrez to K&N. “They are well known for being the best, so I went with them. I’d like to thank Steve Burkett, K&N, and all my sponsors,” continues Gutierrez. “I’ll make some more modifications on the truck and I’ll come out even tougher next year.”

SoCal SAYS: As big-time Charger fans, it hurts us to post this article. Notwithstanding the terrible Raider promotion on this lifted truck, it’s actually pretty sick. We love the huge front-end, big suspension lift, and all the custom items. It’s also nice to see K&N sponsoring big trucks at SEMA. Another win for K&N. Now, if only we could get Gutierrez to switch his loyalty to the San Diego Chargers. Any ideas?
SWAT Truck of the Future
Did anyone see the story on Jalopnik inside the SWAT truck of the future? If not, click here to view it. This truck by Alpine Armoring is named the “Pitbull” and looks insane. It can even withstand a grenade!
SoCal SAYS: Could you imagine lifting this SWAT SUV and driving it around? Not only would you a lifted SUV that no one else has, you would also be ready for World War III. If you can get your hands on one, send us a photo and we’ll feature you on Socaltrucks.com
