Frank Hoppen Survives and Thrives

Frank Hoppen started shooting photos at events in the U.S. 15 years ago. After 7 years, he decided to shoot with other photographers, including many exciting and talented people. The process got bigger and bigger and made HoppenWorld.com the biggest dirt bike action library worldwide. For years, they have supplied magazines as well as OEM’s and supporting companies with images for their advertising and coverage. Frank Hoppen and HoppenWorld.com are known for getting “must get shots,” covered from different shooting positions, from several professional shooters.

But in 2010, Frank Hoppen was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. He went into a real rough time of surviving. Nevertheless, even with Frank close to death, the service of all race coverage and other shoots was handled by his team of professional and outstanding photographers. Not a single event was missed and all images were outstanding, even more than Frank was expecting.

The cancer treatment Frank received kept Frank down for a while, but over time, he got stronger and more powerful. Even to the point where his oncologist was starting to ask questions about how he was doing it! That was until a mountain bike ride with his son in October 2012. Frank was run over by a motorcycle on a street and flew 160 feet through the air. He broke all ribs, right shoulder and other parts, especially in his head.

Through the support of family, doctors and friends, and after 7 weeks and 3 hospitals, Frank fought hard to stay alive. Not only that, he’s back again. After the scare with cancer, this was just another reminder to appreciate life. Frank continues to support HoppenWorld.com and coverage of the top 2013 US Pro SX and Outdoor events will continue, especially since the organization has strong support and relationship with all their shooters.

“Even while I was in a coma in ICU, our team was out to handle HoppenWorld.com shoots for Kawasaki and PC team 2013,” said Frank. “And that was with Kawasaki knowing about my accident. What a great company and style to keep long time relationships alive!”

Frank is a great example of going big and appreciating all life has to offer. He could have quit a long time ago, but like most people in the truck, racing, off-road, alternative sports business, he just keeps charging! Way to go Frank.
