volant f 150 cool air intake
Other intake systems are limited in filter size, due to the factory one-piece air box and overflow tank. But Volant’s intake system replaces the tank, allowing it to be mounted several inches back towards the firewall. This gives Volant’s sealed air filter box greater air volume, and the ability to use an optional air scoop to further increase power and highway fuel economy.
Volant’s CAI kit, PN-19850, comes with a five-layer Pro-5 cotton gauze reusable filter. It’s also available with a Volant filter using Donaldson PowerCore® Filtration Technology, PN-198506, that provides up to 99.97 percent filtration efficiency, no maintenance, and lasts up to 100,000 miles. The Volant coolant tank utilizes the factory fittings, cap and hoses, and is included in the kit. The system also comes with high-flow molded air inlet ducts, silicone sleeves, stainless steel clamps, and all the necessary hardware for easy installation. Volant also includes its new black, stainless steel lid with a filter window so you can see the condition of your air filter.
The optional ram-air scoop (PN-39850) mounts to the factory bumper and routes air to the filter box. Tests have shown adding the scoop increases highway fuel economy by as much as 1.5-2 MPG. The intake kit is available for all 2011 and up Ford F-150 pickups equipped with a V8, V6 or EcoBoost engine. All of Volant’s Cold Air Intake systems are manufactured in the U.S.A. Brian Deegan claims a pair of wins
Brian Deegan and his Ford F-150 SVT Raptor claimed a pair of wins at Lucas Oil Off Road Championship Series.
“It has been a really good season,” said Deegan. “I am so blessed when I just think about the position I am in life. What a year. I don’t know if I will ever be able to top it as far as sports. Ford backed me the whole way and I had to produce. I had to show Ford I could win, and we did. X games and two championships here in Lucas Oil including Pro 2 in my rookie year as well as a lot of records set. It was a tough race, this last one, but this is about a whole season and I am just pumped. It has been a great year.”
“Ford has an long and storied history in off road truck racing from the deserts of Dakar to the brutality of Baja and from the Rough Riders to the recent success of The General, Brian Deegan,” said Jamie Allison, Director Ford Racing. “Together, Brian and Ford have had a phenomenal season in 2011 winning gold at X Games and dominating his Lucas Oil Off-Road programs. We are proud to be able to call him a Ford champion.”
Deegan made the switch from freestyle motocross nearly three years ago, and has continued to dominate and be a force in off road racing as he was in freestyle motocross.
SoCal Says: Brian Deegan continues to entertain. We are excited to see what he takes on next? Snowboarding? Wakeboarding?
Ford SVT Raptor unleashed at SEMA
The Ford SVT Raptor is one of the most extreme off-road trucks to ever come from the factory. But, when it comes to the SEMA Show and Las Vegas — which happens to take place there early next month — stock doesn’t cut it. Enter the Addictive Desert Design/JPM Coachworks Luxury Performance Raptor. Its spec sheet includes some of the best who’s who in the aftermarket industry.
Based on a black-on-black 2011 Raptor SVT SuperCrew, the Addictive Desert Design/JPM Coachworks Luxury Performance Raptor has visited some of the best aftermarket company in the industry. First stop was at Hennessey Performance where John and his crew blessed it with the VelociRaptor 600 SC package giving it 605 horsepower from the addition of a supercharger.
Next it traveled down to JPM Coachworks in Temple, Georgia for a complete interior overhaul featuring Royal Hides from Edelman Leather and Alcantara. It continued on to High Desert Mobile in Albuquerque, New Mexico for an audio upgrade complete with Mosconi amplifiers, Blackhole sound deadening, and Tsunami wiring harnesses and connectors. It also received a NAV-TV system that integrates front and rear Chasecam 3 cameras into the Ford navigation system for better visibility around the outside. The components are controlled by a JPM Coachwork control panel custom mounted in the center console. Visualogic fabricated a custom head rest mounted rear seat entertainment system.
After the interior and audio/video was complete the modified Raptor moved onto Addictive Desert Designs for some more off-road pieces: Stealth front and rear bumpers, Rigid LED lighting, rock guards, aftermarket front and rear suspension (King Shocks 3-inch coil-over shocks in the front and a 3-inch triple bypass piggyback setup in the rear with 14 inches of travel) and Fuel Hostage wheels (with bead-locks installed by Marsh Racing) wrapped in Goodyear MTR Kevlar tires. Baer Brakes provided Extreme Plus Calipers and 15-inch rotors.
The Raptor then travelled to California where Hi Tech Collision in Costa Mesa added some custom touches to the bodywork. Spintech Muffler added a one-off true dual exhaust system that dumps the spent fumes toward the ground just before the rear axle. The bed, wheel-wells, underside, and bottom 12 inches of the body were coated by Line-X.
Renny Doyle of Detailing Success finished off the project with a 12-step process to get the factory paint completely smooth in preparation for XPEL STEALTH Protection Film to protect the truck’s paint finish.
Affliction Clothing will hold a contest to name the beast [something shorter and catchier than Addictive Desert Design/JPM Coachworks Luxury Performance Raptor]. Participants could also win prizes.
