Robby Woods Takes Two Silvers for King

King Shocks racer Robby Woods left Glen Helen raceway in San Bernardino, California with a matching set of 2nd place trophies after rounds 9 and 10 of the Lucas Oil Offroad Racing series. Robby races in the Pro-2 class for unlimited, two wheel drive trucks against some of the best drivers the sport has ever seen including King Shocks teammate and 7-time champion Carl Renezeder. Robby’s success is a welcomed sight to many fans and even a few fellow competitors who love to root for the underdog. Only a few years ago, Robby made a commitment to himself that he would design and build his own Pro-2 race truck and hit the track in what is arguably one of the most intense and challenging forms of racing on the planet.

Competing with a small team at the top echelon of professional motorsports takes much more than a lead foot and a sack full of money, especially if you are new to the game. Determining preventative maintenance procedures and having enough spares and the right tools to do trackside repairs is typically learned through experience. Running a team at this level can quickly turn into a logistical nightmare that interferes with the drivers most important job, racing the truck. When you take into account that Robby designed and built his own race truck, you begin to see what makes him unique. Robby has always had the sheer determination to accomplish his goal but is quick to credit the support of his family and crew, the backing of Lucas Oil owner Forrest Lucas and the many people who have helped him out along the way.

Robby has confidence that emanates from strength of character, not self-importance. He has lofty goals and is well on his way to reaching them. King Shocks is proud to have had a part in Robby’s success and look forward to many more exciting race weekends like Glen Helen. You can count on King to give you the support you need to compete at the top level. SoCal SAYS: We’re not surprised by the continued success of King on the off-road truck racing scene. They have always been one of our favorite shock companies and blow so many others out of the water. Not to mention the fact that they keep a low profile. You can see this in their riders, like Robby. He’s wearing a Detroit Tigers t-shirt and chill sunglasses. No diamond necklace, no entourage, just real. Way to go King and Robby – keep it up!
