Hawaiin Stands Up For Lifted Trucks

We wrote an article in November about someone in Hawaii who said lifted trucks voided the safety of passenger car bumpers and therefore the money spent on Hawaii’s public safety was a waste. Link to the Story – Dangerous Lifted Trucks in Hawaii
Well, it appears that there was a recent article in the Maui News about how lifted trucks in Hawaii are leading to an increase in the number of cracked windshields. One Maui News reader though pushed back, writing a letter to the editor with the following quote, “I find it ridiculous that some have linked lifted trucks and oversized tires to being the cause for cracked windshields. Is there a statistic I missed linking the two?” Click here to read the entire letter.
We’re glad to see someone asking for statistics and not just accepting the news’ opinion of big trucks. Sure, lifted trucks may cause cracked windshields, but we doubt it’s statistically more significant than any other truck. Let’s hope we start seeing some data for these negative articles…or maybe they’ll balance it with a positive piece on big trucks. Don’t hold your breath…
