Safety Concerns with Georgia Lifted Trucks

This latest story from WJBF in Georgia highlights some of the safety concerns with lifted trucks. Specifically, if a big truck were to hit the side of small passenger, the trucks bumper would likely collide with the car window and not the car door. This could potentially lead to much more damage from the lifted truck than if the truck were stock.

As we highlighted in a previous story, drivers in other states like Hawaii have also expressed concern over the issue. We here at SoCalTrucks.com would like to see some more data and have the government begin to examine this topic. If more lifted trucks were involved in fatal accidents, regulators may consider banning them altogether. That being said, lifted trucks have been around for decades and very few people seem to be concerned, so maybe the safety record isn’t that bad.

It’s always tough to balance freedom and safety. As one person mentioned in the story, it would be safer if the speed limit was 25 MPH on the freeway, but that isn’t practical. What do you think?
