Nissan to Redesign Titan by 2014
That’s right: Nissan is ramping up a makeover on their full-size truck so it can hit the market in two years. They acknowledged that they need to be patient with the Titan because it’s still early in the lifecycle of the truck. The Titan was only launched in 2004, whereas Ford and Chevy have been refining their trucks for five or six decades.
The Titan’s sales peaked six years ago around 87,000 trucks sold. This year, they may only sell 15,000, which could be the reason for the decision to redesign. Nissan is talking about adding different engine options, very efficient powertrains, and a few other sytle changes to mix things up.
SoCal SAYS: We like the idea of adding a more powerful engine, but we at SoCalTrucks think it’s the style is what needs some work. Don’t get us wrong, we like the overall look of the truck, but we hate the plastic grill, the ugly wheels, and the goofy stickers. The front-end could also be a little bit more “boxy” to add some intimidation to the truck. If Nissan can improve the style along with the guts, the 2014 Titan could fight it’s way into the mix of killer full-size lifted trucks.
