The New Tacoma Baja Truck is Weak
Have you seen the new Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja truck? If not, it’s pretty weak in our opinion. The package adds BF All-Terrains, bead-lock wheels, a TRD exhaust, and Baja Graphics. First off, if you roll to Baja in this truck, you will get pulled over by the “Policia” and have to pay a fine as soon as they see your truck. Nothing says American Tourist more than a Tacoma that says “Baja” on the side. Second, did you see that plastic, wanna-be skid plate front end? That would be munched within an hour driving the back roads of San Felipe. Last, the tires are okay, but the wheels are lame. We like the bead locks, but the wheels just look ugly and the fact that they put the white tire writing on the outside is another reason to avoid this package.
This package is a nice attempt to make a stock truck look and perform more like a lifted truck, but it’s a miss in our opinion. You would be better to save your money and just add a 4″ lift with wheels and tires. Outside of the King Ranch, most of these manufacturer packages should be avoided.
