Lifted Truck Ideas on Style
What is it that defines “truck style?” For some, style boils down to a bro-ho sitting shotgun, a tailgate net and a 3” body lift. For others, it’s stick-on chrome vents, a swap-meet stereo system and every goofy accessory they can dig outta the 99-cent bin. But for most, it’s the Socal style that continues to raise the bar for lifted trucks everywhere.
If you’re in the middle of a build, or looking to reaffirm your truck’s existing style, here are a few “must-haves” for your Socaltruck. First, there are a lot of billet grills available for trucks right now…get one. It’s a fairly easy project and you get massive bang for your style buck. Next, get some chrome door handles. Again, this is a low-cost easy addition, but don’t go crazy with the automotive chrome accessories—NO stick-on chrome vents!
Of course, truck style means nothing without some power to back it up. Unleash some extra ponies with a cold air intake, a power programmer and a performance exhaust system. Please don’t get cheesy knock-off crap at this point. Stick with the big names like K&N intakes, Hypertech programmers and RBP exhaust. Of course, these aren’t the only major players, there’s also Bully Dog exhaust/tuners and Flowmaster (a NorCal favorite), but you get the point.
All this advice assumes you have a quality package like a Rize Industries suspension lift, Pro Comp Wheels and Fox coil-overs. We’re talking Socaltrucks here: suspension and wheels are mandatory, the rest is gravy.
So, let’s sum it all up: Stick-on chrome anything = bad. Billet grills, bits of flash and gnarly performance = good.
